Purpose and scope
DICEWIKI documents dice, materials, manufacturers, brands, products, games, events, tools, collecting, and related history. Entries should help readers understand a subject, identify it accurately, and follow the evidence behind important claims. Promotional copy, unsupported rankings, and personal opinions do not belong in an encyclopedic record unless they are clearly identified as opinion and supported by a reliable source.
What makes a useful entry
- Clear subject: describe one identifiable die, material, maker, product, game, event, or concept.
- Verifiable claims: support factual statements with a manufacturer page, publisher record, event organizer, technical publication, catalog, archival source, or another credible reference.
- Neutral description: use a measured tone and separate documented facts from interpretation, marketing language, and community opinion.
- Specific detail: include relevant names, dates, dimensions, materials, editions, rules, or locations when those details can be verified.
- Useful context: connect the entry to related subjects without repeating the same information across many pages.
Sources and attribution
Prefer first-party sources for product specifications, release information, brand history, event dates, and rules. Use independent sources when they add context or verification. A source should be identifiable enough for another contributor to find it again. When an entry depends on a source that may change, record the page title, publisher, and access date where appropriate.
Do not copy long passages from a source. Summarize in your own words, link or cite the source, and clearly credit images, diagrams, and quoted material. Contributors must have permission or a suitable license for images they submit.
Review and revision
Submissions are reviewed before publication. Editors may ask for clarification, request a source, correct formatting, or return a submission for revision. Review is not a statement that an entry is complete forever: new evidence, corrected dates, changed product information, and community feedback can lead to later revisions. Meaningful changes should remain traceable in the revision history.
Community conduct
Contributors should discuss evidence and improve the record rather than attack one another. Do not submit private personal information, defamatory claims, copyright-infringing material, spam, or undisclosed advertising. When a subject is disputed, describe the disagreement accurately and identify the sources supporting each position.
How to contribute
Anyone can create an entry, improve an existing record, suggest a correction, or provide a source or image credit through the contributor form. If you are unsure whether a subject fits, submit the question with the relevant evidence and the editorial team can help shape it into a useful record.
